“We’ve worked with traditional trainers in the past and nothing has come close to the way

The Country Ranch has helped our pup.”

Roy’s lovely family moved from Kuwait to Vancouver. He had had very little chance to play compared to dogs in North America. Kuma’s owners are terrific people who’ve been bringing him to The Ranch regularly for Doggy Daycare and Overnight Boarding since he was a puppy. He’s now a wonderful player. Here he’s showing Roy how fun life can be.

Play Fighting

Play fighting is of paramount importance to a puppies development. It's also extremely beneficial for adult dogs in contributing to their overall mental and physical health.

The Country Ranch Experience

The moment a dog comes onto The Ranch great effort is taken to ensure his or her entire experience will result in an intense desire to be here by focusing on his or her particular needs. Those needs vary widely and every proximity and movement of every other dog and the dog handlers is meticulously considered and directed.
We work to make every moment a new experience, widening their horizons and paving the way to a happier, better adjusted, more confident dog, resulting in better behaviour.
It is a wholistic approach that creates an experience that often begins before the dog leaves their house and continues for days after they have left The Ranch.
Dogs, like children, do not always need what is most convenient for their guardians. Dogs, like children, do not always need what is most convenient for their guardians. I really don’t think it can be said enough.
So we always have great appreciation for our clients who make the extra effort for their dog’s well being.
At The Ranch, we simply take a different approach. We never pick up dogs at their houses and drive them around town picking up other dogs.
We never take dogs off the property unless there is a specific, particular need.
We never run a pack of dogs off leash through the woods. It may be necessary sometimes, for some dogs but, other than exercise, it is of no benefit and fraught with risks.
Safety is our first consideration at The Ranch.
It has to be in order to get the results we get in training. I have been professionally managing safety in dynamic situations for over fourty years and we continually work to improve the safety of the environment here.
Play fighting is of paramount importance to a puppies development. It's also extremely beneficial for adult dogs in contributing to their overall mental and physical health. We get several thousand dog visits a year and more than half are here to play hard all day long.
The worst injury that has occurred at The Ranch is a dog bite. On average, a dog would have to spend a couple of lifetimes or more here before they required a single stitch from a bite or just a tooth getting accidentally snagged.
Even less common here are soft tissue strains and they are almost always very mild.
We have taken great efforts to develop our eleven different yards of various sizes and functions that are solely dedicated to the dogs and meticulously maintained. About a third are grass and the rest are sand which is ideal for maintaining a particularly clean environment. But it’s actually the intent and precision in how we use the yards that makes the biggest difference in achieving the results we are looking for.
Given the choice, your dog wants to be at The Country Ranch.
